E.S.A. Fellowship Program
Overview
During the Meeting in Bergen (2003) the European Strabismological Association established a fellowship for training in strabismus. The program enables ophthalmologists with prior experience to continue or complete training in strabismology.
Funding & duration
- Financial support of €3,000–6,000
- Duration of 3 or 6 months
- Awarded annually, depending on ESA financial status
Eligibility
- Ophthalmologist with existing experience/background in strabismology
Application requirements
- Curriculum vitae and list of publications
- Evidence of completed training in ophthalmology
- Information regarding language abilities
- Letters of recommendation
- Specified training centre(s) where you wish to study
- Letter of support from the Head of the Centre/Hospital/University for the chosen fellowship placement
Supervision & reporting
- The training centre must be supervised by an ESA Member
- Fellowship Committee: 4 ESA Members, including the Secretary‑Treasurer (appointed by the Council)
- Reports due within 2 months after completion: one from the supervisor and one from the ESA fellow
Timeline
- Applications due by 31 October (latest)
- Evaluation finalized within 6 weeks by the Fellowship Committee
